how it works

When disaster happens, it helps to have someone with experience on your side. Someone who has spent years working with insurance companies and on insurance claim construction specifically.

When disaster happens, whether it be from a fire or a flood, rain or wind damage, a fallen tree or some other catastrophic damage to your property, there are a lot of steps involved to get you back to pre-damage conditions.

We'll be there with you every step of the way.

1. Disaster Happens

A storm pushes a tree down onto your roof. A leak develops while you're on vacation. An animal compromises an electric wire starting a small fire.

If you own property long enough, something will happen to it. At worst, it can be extremely traumatic; at best, a serious inconvenience, but Morse Construction and Restoration Services will be happy to help you through this time.

2. Contact Your Insurance Agent

It's important to alert your insurance company as soon as you know you have a claim. This will help ensure the speediest turnaround time on your reconstruction especially regarding damage that has affected a large area, like a hurricane.

3. Reach Out To Morse

We'll set up an appointment to come out and see the damage as soon as possible. We'll ask you let us represent your best interests regarding compensation and building, and from there we'll be the main point of contact with your insurance company.

4. To Stay or Not To Stay?

You won't always need to vacate the property while it's damaged, but we recommend it in the following circumstances:

  1. When the project involves more than 50% of the interior square footage.
  2. When the project involves cutting off water or power for more than a day or two.
  3. When all or majority of flooring is being replaced.
  4. There are any sensitivities or medical concerns.
  5. The only bathroom is affected.

Depending on your policy, lodging may be covered and we'll help coordinate with your insurance adjuster to ensure to find you a hotel or Airbnb nearby.

5. Decide what to Improve

When we're rebuilding your property, we guarantee that it'll be back to its original state or better as soon as possible.

Often our clients will take this opportunity to make the improvements that they've put off for years as part of the cost of an update will generally be covered by the insurance claim.

6. Construction Begins

Renovations and rebuilds take time and our industry hasn't quite recovered from the pandemic yet, so things are moving  a little more slowly than they used to.

We'll provide you with a good estimate of the time it will take to complete your project, but it's dependent on supply chains, other contractors, and weather just to name a few considerations.

7. Finishing the Project

We'll keep you updated on the timeline every step of the way, and when it's time to hand your property back over to you, whether it's a renovation or a rebuild, we'll deliver you a home that we're proud of contributing to.

We hope that, if damage ever occurs to your home, a neighbor's property, or the home of a loved one, you'll keep us in mind.
